WHAT IS OIL?
- A viscous liquid can derived and filtered from petroleum, especially for use as a fuel or lubricant.
- An oil is any neutral, non polar chemical substance that is viscous liquid at ambient temperatures and is both hydrophobic and lipophilic.
- Oils have a high carbon and hydrogen content and are usually flammable, sometimes toxic and surface active.
Function of Hydraulic Oils
- To transmit the power
- To lubricate the part of system internally
- To act as coolant
- To act is sealent
Physical properties of the Hydraulic Oils
- Mass Density
- Weight Density
- Specific Gravity
- Compressibility
- Viscosity(Dynamic & Kinematic viscosity)
- Viscosity index
- Flash point
- Fire point
- Oxidation stability
- Pour point
- Emulsibility
- Demulsibility
